Way out of balance

Balance and perspective...I'm so out of sorts right now.  I need to get it together and slow it down a little.  I hate it when I get so out of balance.  It seems like I'm always working on this.

Missed it...

I'm so upset...I had signed up for the Portland Art and Soul retreat, and I missed it!  I was so excited for it and I got so caught up with all this college stuff that I completely messed up the dates and I missed it all.  I could cry.

Another...

Another day in this world...some days are long and some days are short.  Life is strange.

Jacob had asked me to paint him this album cover from a band he loves-Sublime.  I finally did just in time for him to take to college-that was the deal!

Better now...

Ok, I'm better now.  Jacob is all settled into his dorm room and there is such electric, young energy flowing all throughout the campus.  I know he will love it!  That makes me feel much better.  I think I'm over the big hump, maybe a few more small ones, but the big one is all cried out!  :)

Into the dorm room...

Taking Jacob to Eugene today, and getting him all moved into his dorm room.  I'm excited for him.  That will be my focus for now...his excitement.  Wise words from my mom-in-law.  Thanks Jeanne.

No wonder...

No wonder my last two paintings are mother and child.  How obvious can my subconscience be.  Hit me over the head why don't you.

Missing Jacob...

I miss Jacob so much, and he hasn't even left yet.  Life is so strange and confusing sometimes.  I didn't think it would be this hard.

Empty nest...

I really need to get a grip-I'm not losing him...This is what we hoped for, this is why we gave him those wings.  This is hard.

magazine...

So, I've been holding my breath and not wanting to jinx myself...but I think it is safe to let the cat out of the bag now...I'm going to be in the Nov-Dec issue of CLOTH PAPER SCISSORS!!!!   I'm sooooooooooooo excited and don't know how I'm going to wait for the issue to come out!!!!

I submitted some work over the summer, and what do you know?  They liked it!!!  The ladies there are sooo nice and sweet and helpful.  I wrote my little article and sent in the artwork that they asked for, and now its just time to wait...Of course this will be the longest couple of months for me, like watching a cake bake in the oven!  But what can I do!?!  Anyway, I hope you will keep an eye open for it.   I couldn't be more excited (can you tell?)

When it hits the stands I will be shouting it to the whole world... "Hey world!!!  Look!!! I'm in a magazine!"  :)

Some final touches!

I have been busy moving into my new studio, but I still have to make time to work on a painting...Above left is my Christmas Angel in progress.  I couldn't get her eyes right, and then when I went to redo them, I liked them better shut.  That solved that problem!

Here's a new Chaise lounge chair that I just bought at Ikea today.  It's for my art studio, cuz everyone complains there is no where to sit...isn't just dreamy?  I love that I can make this room all feminine.

The Makings of my "new" studio

Today I have the GIAGANTIC job of moving my art space, up not one flight of stairs, but two, and into a new room.  Ugh!  I'm feeling so overwhelmed just by looking at all of my stuff, that I don't even know where to begin!  I really wish I could just wiggle my nose and make it all be done!  I will take pics to keep you updated on my progress.  I want it to be beautiful!

CERES, GODDESS OF AUTUMN

So here is my second Goddess...Ceres, Goddess of Autumn.  I just finished her this morning.  I will post her on my Etsy site also.  I'm really happy with how she turned out, and I really like the collaged background too.
